It all started with Harry and Flora Saval

1932

Saval food products founded

Harry & Flora Saval founded Saval Food Products in Baltimore, Maryland as a processor of Saval Deli & a distributor of deli meats.

1955

saval sons join the business

The second generation of Saval's began joining in the Family business. Eventually, all four sons would work for the company.

1966

saval foods moves

Saval Foods makes the move up the street to a new processing facility on Corned Beef Row in Baltimore, Maryland.

1967

ACQUISITION OF NEUMAN-DIRECTOR

Saval Foods purchases the assets of Neuman-Director – a processor of deli meats in Washington D.C.

Leonard & Murray Saval move to Washington D.C. to head the distribution operation.

1989

Expansion & consolidation

Saval's distribution operations are consolidated in Elkridge, Maryland while Saval Processing remains in Baltimore - with Jeffrey Saval taking over operations.

5,000 foot expansion at the Corned Beef Row facility allowed for further production increases & even more capacity.

1999

Paul saval named president & ceo

Paul L. Saval, brother to Jeffrey Saval & son of Albert Saval is named President & CEO of Saval Foods Corporation after having joined Saval in 1983. Saval Foods Corporation's two subsidiaries are Saval Foodservice & Deli Brands of America.

2003

deli brands of america

Saval Processing is renamed to Deli Brands of America under the guidance of Jeffrey Saval. Deli Brands of America remains in Baltimore, Maryland today and is an adaptive & exceptional force in private label manufacturing of fine deli meats.

2005

Aquisition of auth's meats

Saval purchases the assets of Auth's Brothers Quality Fresh Meats, a processor of cut steaks and distributor of broadline food products.

Deli Brands of America now houses the steak cutting operation in Baltimore, Maryland.

2006

facility expansion

Saval Foodservice expands its distribution center with a 56,750 sq. ft. dry goods addition in Elkridge, Maryland.

2015

Deli Brands expansion

Deli Brands of America expands its processing plant and adds significant cooking & chilling capacity to production line.

2018

Center for logistics & slicing opens

Deli Brands of America opens Center for Logistics & Slicing in Baltimore County, Maryland with state-of-the-art slicing capabilities for safe & efficient production of sliced meats.

2019

Brian saval named vice president

Having joined the family business in 2009 as a sales representative in Baltimore City, and later changing roles in 2013 to work in National Sales for Deli Brands of America, he transitioned back over to Saval Foodservice in 2015 to manage the Baltimore Regional Sales Team, delivering record-breaking growth year after year.

2020

Covid-19

Saval Foodservice worked to distribute and donate over 15,000 boxes of foodgoods in partnership with Johns Hopkins.

2021

Saval Produce Launches

Saval Foodservice launches Saval Produce, a dedicated produce division.

2022

Celebrating 90 years in business

The Saval Foods Companies celebrate 90 years in business.
